Chris Roberts

DipPMI, Accredited Professional Trustee

Chris has been in the industry for over 20 years with 10 years’ direct experience as a professional trustee. He was delighted to be appointed as Chair, on behalf of Dalriada Trustees, to the BTB Scheme from April 2022.

Chris is a Director at Dalriada and was appointed to the Dalriada Board in 2019. He is responsible for the strategic running of the Dalriada business, focussing on the north of England and Scotland. After joining Dalriada’s Glasgow office in 2011, he moved to Manchester in 2015 to set up a new regional office, which now employs 20 members of staff.

He works with sponsors of not-for-profit organisations, multinationals and family businesses in a wide range of sectors. He was an early adopter of pension trusteeship as a career and wrote about his experience to date which was featured in Professional Pensions: The life of a career trustee (aged 39¼).

Working as a trustee for many years means that Chris has real experience of managing schemes through all sections of their journey plan. This includes complex change projects, phased de-risking and ultimate buyout and wind-up. He has a particular specialism in working with employers that operate multiple defined benefit pension schemes, developing and implementing strategic alignment projects to run the schemes as efficiently as possible. Strong governance is the cornerstone of all Chris’ schemes.

Outside of work Chris tried his hand at many sports (mainly badly) and has multiple Maine Coon cats, who can often be spotted on conference calls!
