Consultation under way on VB and VE Scheme

The consultation process to close the Defined Benefit (DB) Pension Scheme to current VisitBritain and VisitEngland employees has now started.

The DB Scheme was already closed to new VB and VE employees from 1 April 2017. The consultation concerns the employers’ request to close the DB Scheme to future accrual and offer a new Defined Contribution scheme from a date before 1 April 2018, when all active members will be transferred.

The employers have stated that this is only a consultation process and no final decision has been made. Former employees, now pensioners or deferred pensioners, are not affected, and VisitScotland staff are not involved either in the proposed changes.

Some 135 VB and VE staff will be affected if the proposed changes are implemented and should seek further information from the dedicated website or the BTA HR department during the statutory 60-day consultation period, which started on 13 October and runs to 12 December.
