Wendy Hunter

Wendy joined Squire Patton Boggs in 1993 as a trainee solicitor, qualified two years later and chose to specialise in pensions law. She first started working with the then Trustees of the BTB Scheme soon afterwards as the most junior member of the team. She now leads the team of lawyers advising the Trustees.

The lawyers’ role is a varied one; they produce the formal documentation the Scheme requires, such as Trust Deed and Rules and deeds of appointment on change of Trustees, but they also get involved in advising on the contracts the Trustees enter into with providers, such as investment managers and administrators. They also advise the Trustees on the law as it applies to pension scheme governance and benefit structure.

Wendy enjoys the intellectual challenges provided by the constantly changing law on pensions. However, she says, that the best bit about her job is the opportunity it provides to work with a wide range of other interesting people, including skilled professionals such as actuaries, but most importantly, the Trustees of schemes like the BTB Scheme who come from many different walks of life but all of whom share the same goal of providing the best possible outcome for their scheme’s members.

When not working Wendy likes to spend as much time as possible with her husband and two sons and preferably sailing on the Norfolk Broads.
